Slot Fanatics

For those of us that live in the Northeast we were hammered very hard over the past weekend with up to 35' of snow in some areas. We had 29' in my neighborhood which brought everything to a total stand still. Parked cars disappeared under white blankets of snow helped by high winds and transportation was almost impossible until our world started to come together .
Our streets and neighborhood pitched in to help each other, starting with concerns for the elderly, handicapped , and sick on our streets, and ran errands for them from volunteered 4 wheel drive vehicles with snow plows. Managers of our local food establishments started bringing home left over food and baked goods at the end of their shifts and distributing it to those in need. Off duty EMT'S walked our streets checking on the many out shoveling snow looking for signs of possible medical problems in the making. Kids of all ages pitched in not looking for snow shoveling money but glad to help out for free...
People who passed by each other daily as neighbors finally learned each other's names , shook hands, and patted each other on the backs.
Aching backs, and cold feet, were over shadowed by the sounds of laughter and concern for others at least for a brief moment in time ..
I hope we all learned something from the last couple days, time will tell..
